It's time to get a little personal.
17 days ago , at my old apartment in West Melbourne,Florida I, (your Blogmeister) was robbed of all my earthly possessions by a Gang of Thieves from Mega Moving & Storage Co.,North Miami Beach, Florida.
They loaded all my furniture and 30 boxes packed with my personal belongings onto their truck as part of a contracted moving service. They fraudently somehow processed a credit charge against me for $1037.00
With 1037.00 and all my furniture and 30 boxes of my personal effects gathered over my 78 year lifetime, they chugged off down the road out of the Grand Oaks Apartment complex in West Melbourne, Florida, drove up a ramp to Interstate 95 and disappeared.
Neither their driver, "ISAAC" nor anyone from their home office "KIM","RAY","SAM","MARTA". "WENDY" or "MARIA" has contacted me since the events of that morning which changed my life and destroyed my dignity.
You may wonder why I have the AUDACITY to label this crime as "BRUTAL" and why I feel it has been trivialized, especially by those who I formerly thought were my friends?
After all the entire material worth of the goods was only about 5000.00 and I was not physically abused. So why "BRUTAL"?
Well stick with your daily visit to this blog and I will elaborate about the Brutality and trivialization factors. For now ask yourself why the first thinbg that pops into many peoples minds when they read about a RAPE victim is "was she wearing anything provocative?" It's called identifying with the Perp instead of the victim!
Well, since that morning 17 days ago, this 78 year old geezer who has lived on a social security stipend for the past 12 years (I thank "God" every day for FDR) has struggled to retain his sanity.
My initial response to the crime was to go into a state of shock. This lasted about 5 days and then slowly but very gradually I forced myself to start standing upright. My first purchase was $6.00 for a brand new toaster at Wal-Mart off Hwy 17, North Myrtle Beach. With a loaf of bread and my toaster and a coffee mug which survived the attack on me by MEGA, I spent 2 hours every morning at the Chik-A-Fil store.
Wearing a t-shirt,my one remaining pair of shoes and my Camo hat I sat in a comfortable booth which was to be my office from now on. This is a truly great company, this Chik-a-Fil chain. They give me free coffee every morning and have the free local newspaper which one can read and then place back in the rack for other victims who cannot afford to buy it.
Not only do I get free coffee but it is the best coffeee you will ever find anywhere, called Bistro Dark by the chain but actually a blend (European Gourmet}manufactured by Royal Cup Co, out of Alabama somewhere. Before I leave for the store each morning I toast 2 slices of bread and spray some It can't be butter concoction on them, wrap them in aluminum foil and hide them in my pocket when I enter the store.
So I sit in this incredibly clean and sunny store off rte 17 with my free coffee and my sneaked in toast, placed on the leather surface out of sight from staff or other customers. I read my free paper, check the classifieds to see whatI might be able to buy, such as used flatware or used china and for those two hours I kind of forget (but not really) what has happened to me these past 17 days.
Then I head off to the local Salvation Army store a few blocks away and shop among the homeless for glasses, mugs, individual spoons, forks, knives. Most of the items are 25 cents each but some 50 cents.
On weekends I start off very early and go to every garage sale in a 10 mile radius ,or as they call them here in Low Country, "yard sales"
I have accumulated a few items which are lifting my spirit. A chair here, a little end table there.
A reading lamp so I can sit in the chair and read the book I took out of the Little River public Library, "Sabbath's Theater" by Philip Roth.
The crime has so far cost me 1037.00, $600.00 for a bed (the one thing I cannot buy used as I could never sleep on it worrying about bed bugs) $200.00 for 3 nights in a motel before I could get into the apartment I rented, $50.00 for an old TV I bought from a Thrift shop down the road run by a Mom and Pop. They were asking $150.00 for it but when I told them of the moving scam I had just suffered they practically gave it to me for fifty bucks. They didn't know if it worked and sold it "as is" and could not deliver it for me. They loaded in in my car and with my arthritically battered spine barking at me I somehow slid it out of the car and dragged it 50 feet into my apartment. I turned it on and the picture is great, not anywhere as great as the TV I lost in the MEGA grand theft but at this point who cares?
Enough for now about me. Will provide regular updates here.
Will close with a few more complaints by my fellow victims of MEGA theft:

I couldnt agree more with the bad comments you all posted about Mega Moving! We (unfortunately) hired them for our 3,000 mile move and ended up paying double of the original quote! They were late, very unprofessional and continually demanded more money! The one guy (Bernard) even said that sometimes the customers belongings end up missing or it falls off the truck! We could never get a hold of anyone in the office and they would rarely call us back! When we finally got our stuff, most of the boxes were damaged beyond belief, several broken lamps, dishes, cracked screen on our big tv, dented microwave, destroyed coffee table and the list goes on! We are even missing a 27 inch tv and fishing poles. The driver didnt even have an inventory list as well as any paperwork (he had to call us for our address). Last but not least, the same driver wanted us to make the money orders(totalling $1580.50) out to him! This was after he stated that he didnt work for Mega Moving! We made them out to Mega moving of course! The final straw is that there were dead roaches in most of our boxes! What a nightmare! If I only knew then what I know now!!! Please dont ever use MEGA MOVING!!!!!

Same here, when I scheduled my move I told them that I had a very tight deadline and they sounded very understandable of my situation, I was scheduled to move on a Saturday at 9:00 AM, the driver called me at 11:00 AM to say that that he will be there at 7:00 PM, then he called me later to say that it was either 9:00 PM or Sunday 8:00 AM, after settling form Sunday he never called me back, I called him back several times but he never answered. On a desperation mode I called the main office to complaint; first the receptionist asked me I ever worked with a moving company, I don’t know what she meant? Finally after being put on hold several times I was able to speak with a supervisor who told me that if I post a public complaint about the move they would charge my credit card.

Mega Moving and Storage believes in dishonesty, scams, theft and rude employees. They score 100% in the ripoff category. They held my things hostage overnight, overcharged me for packing materials not used and they broke many of my items. When I did get my things I saw that they had gone through everything and many of my possessions were gone. This is why they hold your things overnight, so they can go through everything.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Make complaints to your local BBB and Consumer Affairs office. When enough people complain maybe something can be done to stop these con artists.
